Hi, I’m Jeanette Leroux!
I’m a Registered Social Worker with a Master of Social Work degree from King’s University College, and I hold a Minor in Thanatology, the study of death, dying, and grief—something I’m deeply passionate about. My work is focused on helping people navigate grief and mental health challenges, and I’m honored to walk alongside individuals during some of their most vulnerable moments.
Grief isn’t just about losing a loved one; it can come from many types of loss—whether it’s a job, a relationship, or a dream that didn’t unfold as expected. I create a safe, compassionate space where people can openly express what they’re going through. Sometimes we share tears, sometimes we laugh over fond memories, and other times, we simply sit with the emotions. The key is to help people feel seen, heard, and supported as they move toward healing.
I’ve had the privilege of working in a variety of roles. I served as a Bereavement Support Counsellor at the Canadian Mental Health Association, working with individuals grieving deaths by suicide and leading grief support groups. I’ve also worked with families and children at the Children’s Aid Society and supported post-secondary students in mental health crises at the University of Waterloo.
I love the variety in my work. One day, I might be helping a teenager manage anxiety or depression, and the next, I’m supporting someone through the loss of a loved one. I use a variety of therapeutic approaches—such as solution-focused techniques, narrative therapy, and more—depending on what each person needs.
For me, grief counseling is more than just a job. I believe grief is a natural part of life, not something that needs to be “fixed.” What’s important is providing a space where people can process their emotions without judgment. My goal is to help individuals honor their memories, find peace, and move forward in a way that feels true to them.
At the heart of what I do, I want people to know they’re not alone—and that there is hope, even in the hardest moments.
We treasure what you have to say
