Affordable Therapy

We’re excited to announce that Authentic Living London is now accepting applications to work with our intern, Mirlande Dickenson. Mirlande is a Registered Social Worker (RSW) and is currently pursuing her Master’s in Counselling Psychology.

If the cost of therapy has been a barrier, this is a wonderful opportunity to work with a student therapist, licensed by the College of Registered Psychotherapists, at a reduced rate.

The standard fee for sessions with Mirlande is $50. If that’s still a challenge, we also offer a “pay-what-you-can” option for low-income individuals, which can even include FREE therapy!

To get started, please email [email protected] to schedule a free 15-minute phone or video consultation.

Hey, I’m Mirlande.

I hold a degree in Women’s Studies, Feminist Research, and Social Work from the University of Western Ontario, and I’m currently completing my Master’s in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. I’m a certified solution-focused therapist and a member in good standing with both the College of Registered Social Workers and Social Service Workers, as well as the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario.

I have training in non-violent crisis intervention (CPI), suicide intervention (ASIST), Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, trauma-informed counseling, and intrapersonal-based therapy.

I believe in the power of hopeful conversations. When we sit with your pain, we are also finding your resilience. Even in the hardest moments, there is something going well. As you start noticing small changes aligned with what you want in life, we will explore how the parts of your hurt may be in the way. I focus on shifting intersectional identities, as our sense of self and belonging is shaped by our experiences and interactions with others.

As a transnational adoptee of Haitian descent, raised in a small town in northern Ontario where no one looked like me, I understand feelings of confusion, unworthiness, shame, and abandonment. But even in those difficult moments, I was finding my strength and resilience. My journey is about finding what’s going good, even when things seem hard.

My goal is to create a brave space for us to connect, think differently, and recognize the changes you’re capable of.

I look forward to meeting you!

We treasure what you have to say
