Affordable Therapy
We are excited to announce that Authentic Living London is now taking applications for working with our intern, Mirlande Dickenson, who will be starting with Authentic Living London January 6th, 2025. Mirlande is already a RSW and working towards her masters of counselling psychology.
If the cost of therapy has been prohibitive, this is a great opportunity to work with a student therapist who is licensed by the College of Registered Psychotherapists for a reduced rate.
The standard fee for working with a student therapist at Authentic Living London is $75/session. However, if $75/session is still prohibitive, please ask about the “pay-what-you-can” option for low income individuals.
Please email [email protected] to have your name added to the waitlist.
Hey, I’m Mirlande.
I have a Women’s Studies and Feminist Research and Social Work degree from the University of Western Ontario and am completing my Masters of Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. I’m a certified solution-focused therapist and am a member in good standing with both the College of Registered Social Workers and Social Service Workers and the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario.
I have training in non-violent crisis (CPI) and suicide intervention (ASIST). I also have training in Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, trauma-informed counselling, and intrapersonal-based counselling.
I practice from the belief in the power of hopeful conversations. Together, when we sit in your pain, we are simultaneously locating your resilience. Within all this bad, what is going good? As you begin to notice differences aligned with what you want in life, what parts of your hurt are getting in the way? Constantly shifting intersectional identities is my life’s work. You can also call this our psychosocial development as humans. Our sense of personal identity is shaped by our experiences and interactions with others, and it is this identity that helps guide our actions, beliefs, and behaviors with others and ourselves. For instance, I am a transnational adoptee of Haitian descent who was raised in a small town in northern Ontario with no one who looked like me. My sense of belonging was confused, I felt unworthy, ashamed, and abandoned. When I was hurting, I was simultaneously finding what made me resilient. Within all that bad, I saw what was going good and I knew what I wanted to feel instead.
My best hope is that I provide a brave space, so our conversations help you connect the dots, think differently, and recognize change.
Can’t wait to meet you!
We treasure what you have to say
